The Arc of Calhoun County has been a stable presence in our community since 1954. The Arc is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides supportive programming to adults with disabilities, advocacy for special education from birth to 26 years old, and further support to the community as it relates to its citizens with disabilities. We seek to build a disability-friendly community; where all individuals are accepted and respected, and those who need assistance, receive it.
The Volunteer Program gives individuals the opportunity to develop, enhance, and exhibit adaptive skills in a community setting. Individuals learn skills that increase social interactions and improve life functioning.
The Supported Employment program provides adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) the opportunity to develop, exhibit, and enhance employment skills in a community setting.
The Educational Advocacy program provides information and assistance to families and students with disabilities. The Arc offers our Advocacy Services free of charge to any family of a child receiving special education services.
Theirlooms is a social enterprise owned and operated by The Arc of Calhoun County with the purpose of providing up-cycled goods to our community, through the workforce development of employing individuals with disabilities.
The mission of The Arc of Calhoun County is to enrich the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and their communities through advocacy in education, policy, and human rights.
