Purpose of position: The Job Coach will provide support and interventions to persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities, so that they can successfully participate in their community through volunteer and employment opportunities. The Job Coach will accompany adults with disabilities (participants) to each work/job site, in doing so the Job Coach will model appropriate behaviors, create awareness of social skills that impact employment, and track the participant’s progress.



Scope: The Job Coach will work with the Employment Specialist to ensure that the participants are being served in the most inclusive way possible, while understanding that inclusion can be different in differing environments. A Job Coach will assist in the implementation of opportunities of growth. The Job Coach will report to the Employment Specialist.





  1. Perform on the site job skill/social skill training and ongoing support to participants
  2. Ability to provide or assist with minimal personal care to participants while in the care of The Arc
  3. Teach, model, and review the appropriate work behavior and skills with participants
  4. Match participants with tasks they can learn or ones they already know, or may want to learn
  5. Foster and maintain professional relationships with work/job site employers in order to ensure a positive experience for all involved
  6. Empower, encourage and support the participants to be independent
  7. Complete all required paperwork daily and within assigned deadlines
  8. Accurately and completely assist in the data collection of the program
  9. Attend trainings and other meetings as assigned
  10. Facilitates discussions to promote social/life/and job skills
  11. Adherence to confidentiality procedures
  12. Some lifting may be required, up to 50 lbs. as well as the ability to stand for long periods
  13. Ability to work in environments with chemicals, animals, in outdoor weather with variable climates, etc.
  14. Promote The Arc of Calhoun County’s mission
  15. Complete any other duties as assigned by the Employment Specialist or Program Manager or Executive Director

  8. Must have a valid Driver’s License and Insurance, clear driving record
  9. Effective communication, verbally and written
  10. Must exhibit recovery-based, person-centered, and culturally competent practices
